Erectile dysfunction medications seized in Glengormley
8 April 2011
Large amounts of unlicensed medicines have been taken by Department of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.
A man was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medications by means of the internet.
The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.
He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution .
The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.
Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.
"These kinds of items being offered, usually online, have undergone no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.
"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More notably, you do not know the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
